خضعت لي في الحسن شمس النهار
I am of the light of the essence of lights.
I am from the light, essence of lights
The sun of day yielded to me in beauty.
The sun of the day submitted to my beauty

The sun has no match for my cheek and my figure,

And the sword-edges of my two eyes, and their stark black-and-white contrast.
And the shy glance of my eyes and blushing

From my beauty, beauty was cleft, and they prayed—
From my beauty, beauty itself derived

The full moons are humble before my face

The Exalted One molded me with perfect grace
For the world's peerless one, al-Aziz Nizar.
