وكالغيثِ عند المحْلِ منه الأنامِلُ

A young man whose brow's radiance is like the light of the sun,

and whose fingertips are like rain in times of drought;

وكالسيفِ إن قاومتَه حدُّ عَزْمه

وكالسيفِ إن قاومتَه حدُّ عَزْمه

وأَحْلَى من الإنصَافِ حين يُجامل

وأَحْلَى من الإنصَافِ حين يُجامل

the edge of his resolve is like a sword if you oppose him,

and he is sweeter than fairness when he is gracious.

كريم إذا استمطرتَ جودَ يَمينِه

كريم إذا استمطرتَ جودَ يَمينِه

بدا لك من جَدْواه سَحٌّ ووابِل

بدا لك من جَدْواه سَحٌّ ووابِل

Generous—when you seek rain from his right hand's bounty,

from his bounty come pouring rain and heavy downpours.
