And a radiant one, while night's wing is pitch-black,

She has a beacon on every side.

She is harmed by the good she does, and so has tears

Shed in abundance down both cheeks.

The branch lent her stature its straightness,

And day put her in charge of night.

Whenever her head is plucked, she awakens,

And fear and caution leave her side.

I say, while her fire assails her,

    As daybreak assails the night:

My life for every slender-waisted one,

Who, when wronged, has no means of redress.
