شَهد الظِّرفُ والأدبْ

لك بالمجد والحسبْ

لك بالمجد والحسبْ

Elegance and refinement have borne witness

Good manners and politeness

To your glory and ancestral honor.

Bear you witness of glory and nobility

يا شقيقَ النَّدى الذي

يا شقيقَ النَّدى الذي

عنده المال يُنْتَهب

عنده المال يُنْتَهب

O brother of generosity, the one

O brother of generosity whose

In whose presence wealth is plundered,

Wealth is there to be plundered

والذي سلّمت له

والذي سلّمت له

فضلَها العُجْم والعَرَبْ

فضلَها العُجْم والعَرَبْ

And to whom have yielded

And to whom

Their preeminence, the non-Arabs and the Arabs.

Non-Arabs and Arabs have submitted their superiority

إنّما الجود خيرُه

إنّما الجود خيرُه

ما أتى يَسبِق الطَّلب

ما أتى يَسبِق الطَّلب

The finest generosity is only

Verily, the best of generosity

That which comes before the asking.

Is that which precedes request
