وباكيةٍand a weeping woman متَوَّجةٍcrowned بنارِwith fire
وباكيةٍ متَوَّجةٍ بنارِ
كأنّas though دموعَهاher tears حَبَبُbubbles العُقَارِthe wine
كأنّ دموعَها حَبَبُ العُقَارِ
And a weeping woman crowned with fire,
As though her tears were bubbles of wine.
إذاwhen ماemphatic particle تُوِّجتshe is crowned فيin دارhome of قومsome folk
إذا ما تُوِّجت في دار قوم
رأيتَyou see الليلَthe night منهاfrom her كالنهارlike the day
رأيتَ الليلَ منها كالنهار
Whenever she is crowned in the home of some folk,
You see the night, by her light, like day.
فتاةa maiden عمُرهاher lifetime عمرٌa lifetime قصيرshort
فتاة عمُرها عمرٌ قصير
ولكنْbut نفْعهاher usefulness نفعusefulness of الكبارِthe great
ولكنْ نفْعها نفع الكبارِ
A maiden whose lifetime is short,
Yet her usefulness is that of the great.
