And a cupbearer who passes his companion

a blaze of fire in his palm—

wine whose red hue is like his cheeks,

and whose intoxication is like the sword-edges of his gaze.

I have borne for love of him more than

his waist has borne of his haunches’ weight.

And I made my relish alongside his cup

the healing of my lips by sipping at his lips.
