بما بعينيكِ من سَقامٍ

By the languor in your eyes,

With the sickness in your eyes,

and the wine in your cheeks,

رفقاً بمن قد رمتْه جَوْراً

رفقاً بمن قد رمتْه جَوْراً

جفونُ عينيكِ بالسهام

جفونُ عينيكِ بالسهام

be gentle with him who has been unjustly shot

Have mercy on him, whom, unjustly,

by the lids of your eyes with arrows.

Your eyelids have struck with arrows.

لا تَحقري ذمَّةَ التصابي

لا تَحقري ذمَّةَ التصابي

إنّ ذمام الهوى ذِمامي

إنّ ذمام الهوى ذِمامي

Do not scorn the covenant of youthful dalliance;

Do not belittle the covenant of companionship.

for love’s covenant is my covenant.

Truly, the bond of love is my bond.
