May it gladden you that I have found no one to fault you
except an envier—and enviers are many.
لَيهْنِmay it gladden المعاليthe heights of honor أننيthat I أناI رَبُّهاtheir lord
وأنيand that I متىwhen ماever (emphasis) رمتI sought صعباًsomething difficult تيسّراbecame easy
May the heights of honor rejoice that I am their lord,
and that whenever I seek something difficult, it becomes easy.
غذتنِيَnourished me مذsince كُنتُI existed النبوّةُprophethood والهدىand guidance
فحسبيّso it suffices me أَنthat كاناthey both were هماthey two لِيَfor me عُنصُرَاan origin
Prophethood and guidance have nourished me since I came to be,
so it is enough for me that those two were my origin.
فمنso whoever شاءwishes فليحسدthen let him envy ومنand whoever شاءwishes فليَدَعْthen let him refrain
فلستfor I do not أباليcare مَنwhoever أَقَلّdid little وأكثراand did much
So let whoever wishes envy, and whoever wishes refrain;
for I care not who envies little or much.
كفانيَsufficed me صنعُthe work of اللهGod فيconcerning كلevery ظالمwrongdoer
وكلّand every حسودٍenvious man فيin المكارهharmful deeds شمَّراgirded himself
God's dealings with every wrongdoer have sufficed me,
and every envious man who girded himself to do harm.
وقدand indeed قبضتْseized كفُّthe hand of المنونdeath نفوسَهمtheir souls
وقدand indeed محقتْwiped out منهمfrom among them أُناساًpeople ومعشراand a company
And Death's hand has indeed seized their souls,
and has indeed wiped out people and a company from among them.
