ليس فيه لغيرها مستفيق

Our day is soft-edged and delicate.

In it, none awakens for anyone but her.

جاوب الناي فيه زيراً وبَمًّا

جاوب الناي فيه زيراً وبَمًّا

وأطاع الصدِيق فيه الصديق

وأطاع الصدِيق فيه الصديق

In it, the reed flute answered treble and bass strings.

And in it, friend obeyed friend.

فكأنّ الغِناءَ روضةُ خَدٍّ

فكأنّ الغِناءَ روضةُ خَدٍّ

وضروبُ الأوتارِ فيها شقِيق

وضروبُ الأوتارِ فيها شقِيق

So the singing was like a cheek's garden,

And the strokes of the strings were red anemones within it.

قُضِيت فِهِ كلُّ لَذَة نَفْسٍ

قُضِيت فِهِ كلُّ لَذَة نَفْسٍ

وانتهَتْ للحقوق فيهِ الحقوق

وانتهَتْ للحقوق فيهِ الحقوق

In it, every pleasure of the soul was fulfilled.

And in it, dues reached their due.
