And wine that stains the palms yellow as wars dye,
A drink that dyes the palms red
And splits the mantle of night with light.
And unveils the light of the dark night

As though water makes it merry, so it reveals,
As if the water excites it, revealing
When mixed with it, scattered pearls.
Many shining pearls when blended

It vexes the beauties when it appears,
The singers resent it when it appears
And brings languor to their strength.
And it causes their vigor to fade

In color it is likened to red cheeks,
It resembles red cheeks in color
And the bubbles upon it resembled teeth.
And the moles above them like holes

And it was unmixed wine; then, when
It was bitter coffee but after
They passed it round, they gave us joy to drink.
They circulated it, we drank it with joy

A wine whose forbearance, as folly toward us,
A drug whose forbearance was foolishness upon us
Returns, and whose justice lies in being unjust.
And its justice is that it should go around

And but for conviviality with my drinking companion over it,
And were it not for the intimacy of my regret upon it
And my making the guileless fawn drunk with it,
And my intoxication with the murmuring draft

Then I would have left it to others, out of loathing
Then indeed I would have left it to my misery reluctantly
For it, and kept my cup from going round.
And prevented my cup from circulating

And I have seen nothing like it for dispelling care,
And I have not seen the like of it more pleasant to them
When drunk, nor sweeter in its golden drops.
When drunk nor sweeter of nectar

It makes the difficult easy through intoxication,
It makes the difficult easy with pleasures
And makes the poor man rich with wishes.
And enriches the poor man with wishes

And swells its drinker's soul with delight,
And enlarges the soul of its drinker comfortably
So he thinks he has become a prince.
So he thinks he has become an emir

Pass it round to me, you two, and do not fear
Circulate it upon me and do not fear
A God who forgives its being passed round.
A forgiving God in its circulations

For youth has bared its forearms,
For youth has uncovered its forearms
And our bass string cooed to the second string and the treble.
And called to enjoy doubled and repeated

And Time returned with kindness when
And time has returned to favor when
It shot, and its calamity struck the vizier.
Its event hit the minister
فماso not آسَىI grieve منover الحَدَثانfortune's vicissitudes إلاّexcept
علىfor عُمْرa lifetime مُنِحناهwe were granted it قصيراshort

So I grieve at fortune's blows only
So it has not saddened from the events except
For the short life we were granted.
For the short life it granted us
