Behold, every day of your time is a festival,

And can there be more than the radiance of the forenoon?

An age as tender as the bloom of youth,

And an old era renewed by al-Muʿizz.

Yet the festival day was singled out for a gathering,

For which all the days of life are auspicious.

Upon it gleams a splendor from your shining forth,

And within it appears kindling from your radiance.

    ولكنّه حَلْيٌ لهم وعقود

    So do not mistake the utterance that has spread for a sermon;

Rather, it is jewelry and necklaces for them.

This realm shone forth from you, and radiant grew

The bosoms and cheeks of its deeds.

May it gladden you that God is sovereign above you,

    And beneath you all sovereigns are slaves;

And that you are God's sapling among us, and that we

Are your saplings, whose excellence grows and increases:

Faces and souls that shone in your radiance,

And plants and stems that you water in your soil.

And am I anything but one of your edifices, now

Raised by the bounty and generosity you possess?

    فأعياهمُ ما تَبْتَني وتَشِيد

    And all, praise be to God, have sought to tear it down;

Yet what you build and raise has thwarted them.

And you refuse, and God refuses, the undoing of what

You desire, or that an aspirant should rise above you.

And God has indeed scattered the enemies and sickness,

And extinction has followed the fire of calamities,

With might that fills both horizons, and a dominion

That rises above the heights of heaven.

So you went forth, recovery's beauty radiant like you,

And the figure of sickness banished like the renegades.

Which of God's favors, then, shall we first give thanks for

Before you, and which noble favors shall we recount?

Though God has singled me out for a share of their favor,

Their good fortune has surely embraced all the worlds.

And people have hopes of many kinds, and souls

That drive and lead them toward their desires.

And we have none but you to rely upon,

And we have nowhere to turn but to you.

So may the world endure, clothed in your light,

And may your clothing in it be health and immortality.
