دهانِي بعدَك الخطبُ الجليلُ

فلا حَسَنٌ لَدَيَّ ولا جَميلُ

فلا حَسَنٌ لَدَيَّ ولا جَميلُ

After you, a grievous calamity befell me.

After your departure, a grievous calamity befell me.

So for me there is nothing good, nothing beautiful.

So nothing is fair or beautiful to me.

أَروحُ فلا أَرَى إِلاَ ثقِيلا

أَروحُ فلا أَرَى إِلاَ ثقِيلا

ومن أنا عِندَه أيضاً ثقيل

ومن أنا عِندَه أيضاً ثقيل

I go about and see no one but someone wearisome—

I go out and see only someone tiresome,

someone to whom I, too, am wearisome.

And someone to whom I, too, am tiresome.
