اُنظرlook إلىat البِركةِthe pond الغَنّاءlush مفعَمةfilled to the brim
اُنظر إلى البِركةِ الغَنّاء مفعَمة
بالماءِwith water والشمسُand the sun منbecause of حسنٍbeauty تغامِزُهاwinks at it
بالماءِ والشمسُ من حسنٍ تغامِزُها
Look at the lush pond, filled to the brim
Behold the singing pond brimming
with water, and the sun winks at it for its beauty.
With water, and the sun coquetting with its beauty,
والريحand the wind تلعبplays فيin أمواجهاits waves جَذَلاjoyfully
والريح تلعب في أمواجها جَذَلا
فماso not تسالمهاmakes peace with it إلاّexcept تبارِزهاduels with it
فما تسالمها إلاّ تبارِزها
And the wind plays joyfully in its waves,
The wind playing with its waves impishly—
never making peace with it without dueling with it.
It salutes none but contests all.
والنبتand the greenery قدalready حفّهاsurrounded it منfrom كلevery ناحيةٍside
والنبت قد حفّها من كل ناحيةٍ
بكلwith every غصنbranch أَنيقٍgraceful فهوso it حائزهاenclosing it
بكل غصن أَنيقٍ فهو حائزها
And greenery has surrounded it on every side,
And vegetation has ringed it on every side
with every graceful branch, thus enclosing it.
With every elegant branch in its clasp.
كأنهاas though it were بُسُطcarpets بِيضwhite إذاwhen برزتthey appear
كأنها بُسُط بِيض إذا برزت
للعينto the eye مخضرةgreen منهاof them فراوِزُهاtheir borders
للعين مخضرة منها فراوِزُها
As though it were white carpets, when they appear
It's like a white carpet when it appears
to the eye, their borders green.
To the eye, green, with gems upon it.
