مباركَblessed السعيthe striving عذبَsweet الوِردthe approach to water والصَّدَرِand the departure from water
مباركَ السعي عذبَ الوِرد والصَّدَرِ
May your hopes ever remain joined to victory,
Still my hopes connected to victory
your striving blessed, your approach to water and return sweet.
Blessed the endeavor, sweet the flowers and chest
وقابلتْكَand may they greet you اللياليthe nights وهيwhile they are لَيِّنةgentle
وقابلتْكَ الليالي وهي لَيِّنة
نواعمٌtender لاnot تشوبcloud الصفَوclarity بالكَدَرwith murk
نواعمٌ لا تشوب الصفَو بالكَدَر
And may the nights greet you gently,
And the soft nights have met you
tender, never clouding clarity with murk.
Gentle, no disturbance mixes with the serenity
لمdid not يعطِكgive you اللهGod حُسْناًbeauty أنتyou حامِلُهbearing it
لم يعطِك الله حُسْناً أنت حامِلُه
حتىuntil استخفَّmade light of بنورthe radiance of الشمسthe sun والقمرand the moon
حتى استخفَّ بنور الشمس والقمر
God did not grant you the beauty you bear
God has not given you beauty you carry
until it made light of the radiance of sun and moon.
Until belittled the light of sun and moon
ولاnor حباendowed اللهGod بالمُلْكwith kingship العزيزَal-Aziz ولاnor
ولا حبا الله بالمُلْك العزيزَ ولا
أعلاهexalted him حتىuntil رآهHe saw him سيّدَlord of البشرhumankind
أعلاه حتى رآه سيّدَ البشر
Nor did God endow al-Aziz with kingship, nor
Nor out of love of God the precious rule
exalt him, until He saw him as lord of humankind.
Nor elevated it, until seen by master of mankind
