I sent it—golden, aged wine,
I sent her coffee, well-brewed and golden brown
Red, making beauty’s roses bloom for kisses.
Red, it makes roses of kisses bloom
فاشربْso drink مُهَنًّاwith pleasure علىin رَغْمdefiance of الحَسودِthe envious one لناof us
فاشربْ مُهَنًّا على رَغْم الحَسودِ لنا
واطْرَبْand rejoice مُغَنّىًbeing sung to فهذاfor this أَحْسَنُthe finest العَملِdeed
واطْرَبْ مُغَنّىً فهذا أَحْسَنُ العَملِ
So drink with pleasure, despite the one who envies us,
Drink joyfully, in spite of envious eyes
And rejoice as you are sung to, for this is the finest deed.
Sing merrily, for this is noble work
