أَنتُمُ مِنّا وَلَكِنَّكُم

أَنتُمُ مِنّا وَلَكِنَّكُم

أَجبَنُ الأُمَّةِ في يَومِ الفَزَع

أَجبَنُ الأُمَّةِ في يَومِ الفَزَع

You are of us, but you are

You are my people, but on the day of distress,

the most cowardly of the people on the day of terror.

The most cowardly of nations.

وَرَفعنا قَدرَكُم في وائِلٍ

وَرَفعنا قَدرَكُم في وائِلٍ

طاقَةَ الوَسعِ وَلكِن ما اِرتَفَع

طاقَةَ الوَسعِ وَلكِن ما اِرتَفَع

And we raised your standing among Wa'il,

We exalted you, yet you did not rise

to the utmost of our ability, yet it did not rise.

To the limit of your capacity, but remained low.
