أَرىI see الدَهرَtime فيهِin it فَرجَةٌrelief وَمَضيقُand hardship
Let me mingle my sorrow with wine, for I
Let me quench my worries with solace, for I see
see that time holds both relief and hardship.
In fate both relief and tribulation.
فَإِنَّfor indeed فيin المَجدِglory هَمّاتيmy aspirations وَفيand in لُغَتيmy language
عُلوِيَّةٌloftiness وَلِسانيand my tongue غَيرُnot لَحّانِprone to grammatical errors
For my aspirations lie in glory, and in my language
For in glory lie my concerns, and in my tongue
there is loftiness, and my tongue is not prone to errors in speech.
Is elation, though my speech lacks sweetness.
