لَعُمرَكَ ما سَبَّ الأَميرَ عَدَوُّهُ

لَعُمرَكَ ما سَبَّ الأَميرَ عَدَوُّهُ

وَلكِنَّما سَبَّ الأَميرَ المُبَلِّغُ

وَلكِنَّما سَبَّ الأَميرَ المُبَلِّغُ

By your life, it was not his enemy who insulted the emir;

By your life! The enemy did not revile the prince.

but rather the one who relayed the insult who insulted the emir.

Rather, it was the talebearer who maligned the prince.
