كَأَحقَبَ مَوشِيِّ القَوائِمِ لاحَهُ

بِرَوضَةِ مَعروفٍ لَيالٍ صَوارِدُ

بِرَوضَةِ مَعروفٍ لَيالٍ صَوارِدُ

Like a white-bellied wild ass with mottled legs, worn lean

Like a lame one with crooked legs he appeared

By bitterly cold nights in the meadow of Ma‘ruf.
