She answered, and modesty heightened her dignity;
She answered and her shyness increased, radiant
And on her face appeared the gloom of misery.
And on her face the sorrows of distress appeared

Before you, my beloved father-in-law, I feel dread and reverence;
With you, my beloved fears reverence
My fire surely frightens me, and shame abashes me.
My fire will disgrace me and shame will dishonor me

Alas, I did not seek death when, through my selfishness,
Oh, did I not seek death when in my footsteps
My family, brothers, daughter, and neighbor grew distant.
My family, brothers, daughter and neighbor distanced

I left them and took your son in their stead;
I left them and clung to your son instead of them
And my tears will pour as long as my life lasts.
And my tears for as long as my life flowed copiously

And whatever you wish, ask; I shall answer obediently.
And whatever you desire, ask, I will obey willingly
So this is Agamemnon, proud and all-conquering,
For here is Agamemnon, a mighty conqueror

A king well versed in the affairs of state,
A king well-versed in politics
Resolute and mighty in the fiercest battles.
Resolute, deaf to entreaties, tyrant

Indeed, I was his brother's honored wife;
I was the honored bride of his brother
But bygone power is fleeting as a dream.
But the decree of the past is like a fleeting dream

The elder gazed at him, esteeming his worth
And said: Ah, how many troops have obeyed you!
And said, oh how many legions have obeyed you

Fate has led you to the loftiest heights of glory.
For the highest summits of glory, fate has led you

وقِدماً بها أُطرا ومِغدُونُ مِغوارُ
I journeyed to Phrygia, rich in vineyards;
I headed towards the scent of the vineyards breezily
And long ago, Otreus and valiant Mygdon were there,
Stepping lightly, the army massive

بِجِدَّةِ سِنغَارِيسَ والجَيشُ جَرَّارُ
Leading the men of the legions, encamped
They lead the cavalry, traveling
On the bank of the Sangarius; and the army was vast.
To Gideon Singarez, and the army immense

I accompanied them when the Amazons attacked
I accompanied them when the Amazon
Them with a valor that vast numbers could not daunt.
Attacked them with a ferocity that did not daunt the brave
وَلكِنَّهُمbut they لمdid not يَبلُغُواequal قطُّever عِدَّةًin number

جُيُوشاً مِنَ الإِغريقِ في إِثرنا ثاروا
But they never equaled in number
But they never matched the number
The armies of the Greeks who rose up in pursuit of us.
Of Greek armies - they rose against us in our wake
