شَدِّدُوا عَزمَكُم وَكُونُوا رِجالا

فَوَطِيسُ الوَغى عظيمُ الشُّؤونِ

Strengthen your resolve, and be men.

For the furnace of battle is of great consequence.

وليقُم بَعضُكُم بِحُرمهِ بَعضِ

وليقُم بَعضُكُم بِحُرمهِ بَعضِ

فَلَكُم بِالوِفاقِ خَيرُ قَرِينِ

فَلَكُم بِالوِفاقِ خَيرُ قَرِينِ

And let each of you uphold the honor of the other.

For in concord you have the best companion.

والتَّأخّي بَينَ النُّفُوسِ نَصِيرُ

والتَّأخّي بَينَ النُّفُوسِ نَصِيرُ

ولِحِفظِ الرُّؤُوسِ أَقوَى ضَمِينِ

ولِحِفظِ الرُّؤُوسِ أَقوَى ضَمِينِ

And brotherhood among souls is an ally,

And the strongest guarantor of safeguarding heads.

لِلجَبانِ المَهزُومِ مضوتٌ وَعارٌ

لِلجَبانِ المَهزُومِ مضوتٌ وَعارٌ

والهُمَامِ العَزُومش رَفعُ الجبين

والهُمَامِ العَزُومش رَفعُ الجبين

For the defeated coward, [death?] and disgrace;

And for the resolute hero, a brow held high.
