  1. ما كادَ نَسطُورٌ يُتِمُّ كَلامَهُ

    حَتَّى مِنَ البَطَلَينِ هَلَّ المَطلَعُ

    Nestor had scarcely finished his speech

    When the two heroes rose into view.

  2. فَتَرَجَّلا وَالكُلُّ جاءَ مُسَلِّماً

    بِيَمِينِ وَصَدى المَدِيحِ يُرَجِّعُ

    They both dismounted, and everyone came to greet them

    With their right hands, as the echo of praise resounded.

  3. فَبَدا بِهِم نَسطُورُ أَوَّلَ سائِلٍ

    والكُلُّ مُصغٍ لِلنَّبا مُتَوَقِّعُ

    Then Nestor was the first to question them,

    And all listened attentively, awaiting the news.
