تعلم ففي العلم الشريف فوائد

يحن لها القلب السليم الموفق

يحن لها القلب السليم الموفق

Learn, for noble knowledge holds benefits

Learn, for in learning is noble virtue

For which the sound, rightly guided heart yearns.

The sincere heart yearns for it, blessed

فمنهن رضوان الإله وجنة

فمنهن رضوان الإله وجنة

وفوز وعز دائم متحقق

وفوز وعز دائم متحقق

Among them are God's good pleasure and Paradise,

Among them is the pleasure of God and Heaven

And triumph, and lasting, assured honor.

And triumph and everlasting might

وعن زمرة الجهال إن كنت صادقاً

وعن زمرة الجهال إن كنت صادقاً

بعلمك تنجو يا أخي وتسمق

بعلمك تنجو يا أخي وتسمق

And from the company of the ignorant, if you are sincere,

And from the throng of ignorance, if you are truthful

Through your knowledge you escape, O my brother, and rise high.

With your knowledge you are saved, my brother, and excel

فكن طالباً للعلم إن كنت حازماً

فكن طالباً للعلم إن كنت حازماً

وإياك إن رمت الهدى تتفوق

وإياك إن رمت الهدى تتفوق

So be a seeker of knowledge if you are resolute,

So be a seeker of knowledge, if you are resolute

And beware, if you seek guidance, of seeking superiority.

And beware if you seek guidance, to transcend

ففي العلم ما تهواه من كل مطلب

ففي العلم ما تهواه من كل مطلب

وطالبه بالنور والحق يشرق

وطالبه بالنور والحق يشرق

For knowledge holds what you desire in every pursuit,

For in knowledge is what you desire of every wish

And its seeker shines with light and truth.

فإن رمت جاهاً وارتفاعا ورتبةً

فإن رمت جاهاً وارتفاعا ورتبةً

ففي العلم ما تهدي له ويشوق

ففي العلم ما تهدي له ويشوق

For if you seek prestige, elevation, and rank,

If you seek station, ascent and rank

Knowledge holds what points the way to that and stirs longing.

In knowledge is what guides you to it, and captivates

وإن رمت مالاً كان في العلم كسبه

وإن رمت مالاً كان في العلم كسبه

ففز بالرضا واختر لما هو أوفق

ففز بالرضا واختر لما هو أوفق

And if you seek wealth, its acquisition lies in knowledge.

And if you seek money, its earning was in knowledge

So attain contentment and choose what is more fitting,

So win contentment and choose what is most proper

وأحسن في الدارين عقباً ورفعة

وأحسن في الدارين عقباً ورفعة

فبادر فإني صادق ومصدق

فبادر فإني صادق ومصدق

And better in outcome and elevation in both abodes.

And excel in the two abodes in consequence and ascendance

So hasten, for I am truthful and my words are confirmed.

So hurry, for I speak truly and validate

ويوم اللقى نار تلظى وتحرق

ويوم اللقى نار تلظى وتحرق

And in ignorance, before death, lies death for its people,

And in ignorance before death is death for its people

And on the day of the meeting, a fire that blazes and burns.
