You have been granted the reward of fasting, O son of noble men.

And you have become the festival’s own festival, O best of rulers.

So may the days never cease to call you their festival,

And compensate you with days to come for those that have passed.

And may you never cease to give each fast its due alms,

By doing justice to the wronged and destroying the oppressor.

For you are the greatest shield for the house of al-Azm,

Protecting the people from the tyranny of devastating years.

And a refuge for endowments that have risen high and vied in glory,

Through your bounty, with the endowments of munificent kings.

And the most prudent lord, of whom I said in a chronogram:

Muhammad Hamdi al-Azm is the most prudent of prudent men.
