تجلو عليه من الجبين نهارا
When the painter saw Rosa approaching,
When the painter saw Rosa approach
unveiling daylight to him from her brow,
Radiance shone on him from her brow

He exclaimed "Blessed is He who created

O Lord, how can her likeness be fully drawn,
"Oh Lord, how can her beauty be captured

فضح الشموس وأخجل الأقمارا
The painter spoke truly—so excuse him, for her beauty
The painter spoke true, so forgive him
put the suns to shame and made the moons blush.
Her beauty outshone the suns, shamed the moons

If this portrait has already enchanted humankind,
If this painting has seduced the world
then would she herself not throw thoughts into confusion?
Why wouldn't her being stir thoughts?
