قالوا لفاتنتي وقد رقدت
قوميrise اصبَحيناserve us a morning drink زقزقchirped الحجلُthe partridge
قومي اصبَحينا زقزق الحجلُ
They said to my enchantress as she lay asleep:
They said to my beloved as she slept,
"Rise, serve us our morning drink; the partridge has chirped!"
"Arise, for morn has come, the partridges sing."
حتىuntil إذاwhen هبstirred النشاطvigor بهاwithin her
حتى إذا هب النشاط بها
وانحطand fell away عنfrom أعطافهاher flanks الكسلlanguor
وانحط عن أعطافها الكسل
Then, when vigor stirred within her
Then when energy stirred within her
And languor fell away from her flanks,
And sloth fell away from her shoulders,
حارواthey were bewildered وقالواand they said كيفhow تحملهاcarry her
حاروا وقالوا كيف تحملها
أقدامهاher feet وبردفهاand at her rump جبلa mountain
أقدامها وبردفها جبل
They were bewildered and said, "How can she be carried
They were amazed, saying, "How can she bear
By her feet, with a mountain at her rump?"
Her feet when her buttocks are a mountain?"
