I would ransom Ayn Hoor with my soul, though it prolonged

My eyes’ sleeplessness with the eyes of houris.

For in it dwells every full-figured beauty,

As though her chemise were a niche of light.

I made for the quarter of her whose saliva was sweetest,

And who knew the sleepless lover best.

And I said, “I wonder: will she who stole my joy

Return some of my gladness to me?”

Then she said, “In my mouth are roses and blossoms—

And how sweet it is to come to the blossoms!”

So I cast the turban from my head,

And unleashed vigor upon my languor.

And spent the night in her lap, sucking her mouth,

Just as love for her had sucked away my senses.

And the anklet’s nightingale sounded its call among us,

So we rose for bed and delight.
