إذا قام يرسم فيه حبة ناظري

She said, the reed pen having wounded her little cheek,

when it began drawing upon it the pupil of my eye:

أدميت إذ نقطّت حمرة وجنتي

أدميت إذ نقطّت حمرة وجنتي

فغدت بهذا الشكل خمرة شاعر

فغدت بهذا الشكل خمرة شاعر

“You made me bleed when you dotted the redness of my cheek,

so in this form it became a poet’s wine.”
