Come forward; do not fear the redness of the roses.
Do not fear the redness of roses
This is the vision of the rose-hued opening verse.
This is the rosy dawn's fantasy
فهناfor here هناhere كانتwas مودعتيshe who bade me farewell
وهناand here هناhere سفرتshe unveiled عنfrom الخدthe cheek
For here, here, was she who bade me farewell.
For here, here was my farewell
And here, here, she unveiled her cheek.
And here, here I journeyed from the cheek
وهناand here تباعدdrew away عنfrom فميmy mouth فمهاher mouth
ونأتand she departed ودامand endured غرامهاpassion for her عنديwith me
And here her mouth drew away from mine.
And here her mouth distanced from mine
And she departed, while passion for her stayed with me.
Yet her love remains with me

فوددتso I wished لوif only أنthat الحصىthe pebbles خديmy cheek
She wet the valley's pebbles with her tears.
The pebbles of the valley shed her tears
So I wished the pebbles were my cheek.
I wish those pebbles were my cheek
ونأتand she departed تقولshe says اصبرbe patient علىwith بعديmy absence
وأناand I أقولI say لهاto her اسلميstay safe بعديafter me
And she departed, saying, 'Be patient with my absence.'
She said, be patient with my absence
And I said to her, 'Stay safe when I am gone.'
And I said to her, "Farewell after me"

The nūn of separation, O Mayy, forbids
The letter Noon of purpose, O water, prevents
the joining of patience and longing.
Reunion of patience and passion

Who will buy my patience with her saliva,
Who will buy my patience for her smile?
so I may sell patience for honey?
So I can sell patience for honey

Or who will grant me moments of his sleep,
Or give me a respite from his sleep
with which to summon the phantom to my bed?
To summon with it my imagination to my bed

How far away! My hopes offer me false comfort,
Alas, my hopes make excuses for me
and the lovelorn's consolation is of no avail.
And the excuse of the lovesick is futile

O night who has adorned her stars

For people, while my bosom alone for me

And prepared for us the better of two moons
was the one between the crown and the necklace.

Return to us so a pampered beauty may visit us;
Return to us to return us to the honeyed melody
healing from wasting sickness lies in her sugar-sweet saliva.

There is coolness in her mouth: whenever
In her mouth there is a coolness that says
the fevered man tastes it, he cries, 'Ah, my cool relief!'
When tasted by the feverish, "My coolness"

Sometimes bringing rain, other times shining

The blossoms shed blood, so excuse me
from the gate of the lion's forest by fear,
From the door, for the warblers have departed
