  1. يا ليلة لبثت بياض نهارها

    ووزير جلق في الشآم يشاهد

    O night that lingered through its day's whiteness,

    while the vizier of Jilliq is seen in Syria.

  2. لا تعجبي أخذ النهار بثاره

    فبك اكتسى لما تباعد راشد

    Do not marvel: day has taken its revenge;

    for it clothed itself in you when Rashid went far away.
