God, what a beauty rose to bid me farewell!
A song arose for God bidding me farewell
And her form is in my heart, never leaving me.
And her image in my heart will never leave me

I saw my image in her breast and said to it:
I saw my reflection in her breast and said:
“May you remember me in the garden of Paradise.”
May you remember me in Heaven’s Paradise
فقالso it said هيهاتfar from it! إنيindeed I am عاشقٌa lover دنفٌsick with love
لاnot أشتهيI desire أحداًanyone فيهاin it يشاركنيshare with me
It replied, “Far from it! I am a lovesick lover;
But no, said he, I am a wretched lover,
I want no one to share that paradise with me.”
I desire no other to share her with me
ياO ربLord حتىeven خياليmy image منout of محبتهاlove for her

O Lord, even my image, out of love for her,
Oh Lord, even my shadow, out of love for her
is jealous of me over her, though it comes from my body.
Is jealous of me, though made of my own form
