خذوا بدمي من لحظ جاهلة الحب

ولا تسألوا عني جبابرة الحرب
Avenge my blood upon the glance of a woman ignorant of love,
Take my blood from the moment of ignorant love
And do not ask the mighty warriors about me.
And do not ask about me, tyrants of war

My death lay in her bewitching glance;
At her enchanting glance, my demise was
Caught unawares, I lost my reason because of her.
Due to my folly with which I lost my reason

And there was never a third person between us
And there was never a third between us
To aim an arrow or keep us from drawing near.
Who shot an arrow or warded off intimacy

سمعت بأذني رنة السهم في قلبي
So absolving the glances is unjust, for I
So acquitting the glances is injustice, for I
Heard with my own ear the arrow's ring in my heart.
Heard with my ears the moan of the arrow in my heart
