يا كوكبي فلك الجمال ذكاكما
بنبيهةٍas Nabiha وبراشدand as Rashid سمّاكماnamed you both
بنبيهةٍ وبراشد سمّاكما
O two stars of beauty's sphere, your brilliance
O my planet, orbit of beauty your wisdom
has named you Nabiha and Rashid.
With good judgment and guidance made you so
ماnot الشمسthe sun والقمرand the moon المنيرshining وأنتماand you both
ما الشمس والقمر المنير وأنتما
سيانequal لوif عرفاكماthey both knew you both خدماكماthey both served you both
سيان لو عرفاكما خدماكما
The sun and the shining moon and you two are not
The sun and the bright moon are not
equals; had they known you, they would have served you.
The same if they knew you, served you
هنّاكماgladdened you both بمحمدٍwith Muhammad إحسانkindness منthe One who
هنّاكما بمحمدٍ إحسان من
أعطاكماgranted you both بعدafter القنوطdespair مُناكماyour wishes (both of you)
أعطاكما بعد القنوط مُناكما
You were gladdened with Muhammad by the kindness of Him who
There Muhammad did you kindness
granted you your wishes after despair,
Gave you after despair your tranquility
وكفاكماand protected you both شرthe evil of الحسودthe envier ومدَّand spread سِرrobe (first word-fragment)
وكفاكما شر الحسود ومدَّ سِر
بالَrobe (remaining word-fragment) السعودِgood fortune علىover العزيزthe beloved فتاكماyour boy (both of you)
بالَ السعودِ على العزيز فتاكما
and spared you the envier's evil, and spread the robe
And protected you from the evil of envy and extended
of good fortune over your beloved boy.
With grace the arm of fortune over the precious so you
وعسىand may الإلهGod يريكماshow you both منfrom نسلهhis offspring
وعسى الإله يريكما من نسله
أقمارmoons تمٍّfullness يحسنونexcel in ولاكماdevotion to you both
أقمار تمٍّ يحسنون ولاكما
And may God show you, among his offspring,
And may God show you from his descendants
full moons who excel in their devotion to you both.
Moons to do good and succeed you
إنindeed الذيHe who أغناكماenriched you both منfrom فضلهHis bounty
إن الذي أغناكما من فضله
لاnot يمنعwithholds الخيراتblessings عنfrom مغناكماyour home (both of you)
لا يمنع الخيرات عن مغناكما
Indeed, He who enriched you through His bounty
He who enriched you with his bounty
will not withhold blessings from your home.
Will not deny goodness from your enricher
سبحانهglory be to Him أمرcommanded الورىmankind بولاكماto be devoted to you both
سبحانه أمر الورى بولاكما
فغدوتso I became أولthe first منone who يربّnurtures رضاكماyour contentment (both of you)
فغدوت أول من يربّ رضاكما
Glory be to Him! He commanded mankind to love you both,
Glory to Him who ordered the world to obey you
so I became the first to nurture your contentment.
So you became the first to please Him
لماwhen رأيتI saw حسودan envier of بدركماyour full moon (both of you) الذيwhich
لما رأيت حسود بدركما الذي
شدَهَastounded العقولminds يقولsaying هلquestion marker أرضاكماpleased you both
شدَهَ العقول يقول هل أرضاكما
When I saw the envier of your full moon—which
When I saw envious ones of your full moon that
had astounded minds—say, 'Has he pleased you both?'
Captivated minds say, did it please you
ورأيتand I saw حسنthe beauty of رضاكماyour contentment (both of you) أرختI recorded the date أيnamely
ورأيت حسن رضاكما أرخت أي
بمحمدٍwith Muhammad أرضاكماpleased you both مولاكماyour Lord (both of you)
بمحمدٍ أرضاكما مولاكما
and saw the beauty of your contentment, I recorded the date, namely:
And I saw the pleasure of your approval, I released my
'With Muhammad, your Lord has pleased you both.'
