My tormentress said, while the garden smiled
She said, while the garden smiled at her torment,
at her, and the radiance of her face rivaled it:
And the light of her life gazed at it,
أللنعيمis it for bliss الذيwhose فيin الدوحthe trees بلبلهits nightingale
أللنعيم الذي في الدوح بلبله

وافيت أم للذي في الساق طائره
“Is it for the bliss whose nightingale is in the trees
"Is this the bliss whose nightingale is in the branches,
that you have come, or for that whose bird is in the stem?”
Or have you attained what is in the chalice of the wine?

I said, “By God, O garden of beauty, I have not
So I said, by Allah, o garden of sweetness, you have not
come except for the one whose Kawthar is in the saliva,
Attained save to one in whose saliva is Kauthar.

whose pomegranate is the breast and whose narcissus is the glance,
With breasts like pomegranates, glances like narcissi,
whose apple is the cheek and whose ambergris is the beauty mark.”
Cheeks like apples, and moles like ambergris."
