ناحت عليك عباد اللَه يا سندي

نواح والدةٍ تبكي على ولد

نواح والدةٍ تبكي على ولد

God's servants wailed over you, O my mainstay,

The servants of God lament for you, O my support!

With the wailing of a mother weeping for a child.

The wailing of a mother weeping for her son.

فأنت أنت الذي ما ذمه بشرٌ

فأنت أنت الذي ما ذمه بشرٌ

ولا جنى قطُّ في الدنيا على أحد

ولا جنى قطُّ في الدنيا على أحد

For you—you are the one whom no mortal reproached,

For you are the one whom no human blamed,

And who never wronged anyone in this world.

And no one in this life reaped benefits from another.

لو قلت من كان يرضي الناس قاطبةً

لو قلت من كان يرضي الناس قاطبةً

لقالت الناس يوحنّا أبو حَمَد

لقالت الناس يوحنّا أبو حَمَد

If I asked, 'Who used to please all people?'

If I were to ask, who satisfied all people?

The people would say, 'Yuhanna Abu Hamad.'

The people would say, John Abu Hamad.

ذاك الذي نشر الباري محامده

ذاك الذي نشر الباري محامده

في الكون مثل انتشار الروح في الجسد

في الكون مثل انتشار الروح في الجسد

That is the one whose praises the Creator spread

He who spread the praises of the Creator

Throughout the universe, as the spirit spreads through the body.

Throughout the universe like the spirit spreads in the body.

لما دعاه إلى الفردوس خالقه

لما دعاه إلى الفردوس خالقه

وجاده بسرورٍ دائم المدد

وجاده بسرورٍ دائم المدد

When his Creator called him to Paradise

When his Creator called him to Paradise,

And lavished upon him joy forever replenished,

He rewarded him with endless bliss.

أرخت حبي بفردوس النعيم حُبِي

أرخت حبي بفردوس النعيم حُبِي

وفاز فوزاً عظيماً دائماً أبدي

وفاز فوزاً عظيماً دائماً أبدي

I recorded the date: 'My beloved was granted the paradise of bliss,'

I released my love to the Paradise of bliss, my love,

And he gained a great triumph, enduring and eternal.

And he won a great, everlasting, eternal victory.
