Are these your breasts, or a garden’s pomegranates?

And is this your figure, or a branch of the bān tree?

O loveliest of graceful maidens, no aged wine has reddened

Without having blushed in shame before your crimson cheek.

How wondrous that gazelle’s eye of yours! Never

Has it befriended a lover or brought hardship upon a captive.

I entrusted it with my drowsiness and chose it as my abode,

And it has no need of my sleep or my body.

Call to the one you slew, and he will live; for the sweet fragrance

Of your mouth’s uvula revives the dead and gone.

This special gift of Jesus has indeed appeared in you,

O daughter of Ayyub, to confirm my faith.
