How wondrous is Husn! Her beauty on the day of parting
God has beauty and her beauty on the day of intention
kindles heartache and dispels the reproacher’s blame.
Shows the heavens and removes the blame of the critic

حبات در أو ثغور أقاح
And her tears upon her cheeks seem like
And her tears above the cheeks as if they were
pearl beads, or the mouths of daisies.
Pearls or lips of a wound

The veil revealed her beauties, just as
Sleep has fallen on her beauty as
the glass revealed the redness of the wine.
Sleep falls on the redness of the sand dunes

And it became, with her camphor-white body to embrace and ruby-
And tomorrow with clasped camphor, oh
red lips to kiss, like a lamp.
Veiled with strength like a lantern

ورد الخدود بصفرة التفاح
But for the watcher—may I be rid of him!—she would not have overlaid
If not for the watcher I would not have pretended
the roses of her cheeks with the yellow of apples.
And the rose of her cheeks with the yellowness of apples
