أهديت يا بدر من أقوالكم غررا

منظومة في عقود ما لها ثمن

You offered, O Badr, choice gems from your sayings,

Strung in necklaces beyond all price.

ذكرت ارشدت أحييت النفوس فمن

ذا مثلكم في سبيل النصح يمتحن

You reminded, guided, and revived souls—so who

Is there like you, put to the test on the path of counsel?

الفاظكم حكم اضحت مقدسة

تهدي قلوب أناس طالما فتنوا

Your words are maxims that have become sacred,

Guiding the hearts of people long led astray.

بلغت واجب على أنت مركزه

فقمت تنذر قوما للهوى ركنوا

You conveyed a duty [wording unclear], whose center you are,

So you arose to warn a people who had yielded to desire.

وهكذا ديدن الاسلاف نعرفهم

لذا بك افتخر الاسلام والزمن

And such is the forebears’ way, as we know them;

Thus Islam and time have taken pride in you.

بالله ذكر فان الذكر ينفعنا

جدد وسدد وقارب فالورى سكنوا

By God, remind us, for reminders benefit us.

Renew, aim true, and come close to the mark, for humankind has grown still.
