Pleasant nights, like clear, sweet water.
Nights of companionship like pure water
وقاضيهاand its judge الجليلvenerable ومنand whoever يليهfollows him
وقاضيها الجليل ومن يليه
لياليnights مؤنساتpleasant and comforting كالزلالlike clear, sweet water
ليالي مؤنسات كالزلال
And its venerable judge, and those who follow him,
And her eminent judge and those with him
Pleasant nights, like clear, sweet water.
Nights of companionship like pure water
وزهرتهمand their flower أبوAbu (father of) بكرBakr فاكرمso how noble!
وزهرتهم أبو بكر فاكرم
بمشهورthe one renowned for الفضائلvirtues والكمالand perfection
بمشهور الفضائل والكمال
And their flower is Abu Bakr—how noble
And their flower Abu Bakr honored us
Is the one renowned for virtues and perfection!
With his renowned virtues and perfection
لهhe has خلقcharacter يفوقsurpasses الوصفdescription أماas for
له خلق يفوق الوصف أما
أياديهhis favors فمنso of شبهthe likeness of المحالthe impossible
أياديه فمن شبه المحال
His character surpasses description; as for
He has a character beyond description
His favors, they border on the impossible.
His generosity is scarcely imaginable
فقلso say فيof جودهhis generosity بحرa sea عميقdeep
فقل في جوده بحر عميق
وكررهاand repeat it جهاراًaloud لاdo not تبالcare
وكررها جهاراً لا تبال
So say of his generosity: “A deep sea,”
Say of his generosity it is a deep sea
And repeat it aloud, without a care.
And repeat it aloud, pay it no mind
