ختم الرسالة ربنا بمحمد

فهدى الأنام إلى الطريق الأرشد

Our Lord sealed the prophetic mission with Muhammad,

and guided humankind to the most upright path.

وغدت ديانة عابد الاصنام في

بتر وقطع مالها من منجد

And the idol-worshipper's faith was left

cut off and severed, with none to come to its aid.

وحمى حمى دين الهدى بسيوفه

فغدا محجة ذي الفواد المهند

And with his swords he guarded the sanctuary of the faith of guidance,

so it became the clear path for one whose heart was keen as a sword.

وأتى رجال شيدوا آثاره

خلف على سلف روى للمسند

And men came who built up his legacy,

successor after predecessor, transmitting to the traditionist.

فمضوا وأحياها امام قد سما

ورقى الى أوج المقام الاسعد

Then they passed away, and an imam who had risen high revived it,

and ascended to the summit of the most blessed station.

جمع العلوم فخاض لجة بحرها

فتراه في تأليفه كالمنشد

He gathered the sciences, then plunged into their sea's depths;

so in his writing you see him like a reciter of verse.

ذاك الهمام الاريحي محمد

من نسل يوسف بدر ليل مفرد

That is the gallant, generous Muhammad,

of Yusuf's line, a peerless full moon in the night.

لغوامض الكافي أبان فكان لي

بختامه طرب وصفق باليد

He clarified the obscurities of al-Kafi, and I felt

delight at its completion and clapped my hands.
