نكاح البكر يا عمر والأمينا

Congratulations, with harmony and sons,

Congratulations on prosperity and children,

On marrying a maiden, O Umar and al-Amin.

Omar, marry the virgin and the trusted one,

نكحنا نحن لكن ثيبات

نكحنا نحن لكن ثيبات

يمثلن الجدود الغابرينا

يمثلن الجدود الغابرينا

We too married, but women previously married,

We married previously married women,

Who resemble the forefathers of old.

They represent past ancestors,

طربنا إذ رميت فنلت قصداً

طربنا إذ رميت فنلت قصداً

به أنسيت صنع الأولينا

به أنسيت صنع الأولينا

We rejoiced when you shot and reached your goal,

We rejoiced when you threw and hit the target,

Thereby making us forget the deeds of those before.

With it you made me forget the work of the predecessors,

كذا فلتفعل الأبطال فابشر

كذا فلتفعل الأبطال فابشر

ببدر نير في العالمينا

ببدر نير في العالمينا

Thus let heroes act; rejoice

Thus the heroes should act, rejoice

In a radiant full moon among all peoples.

With the full moon in the two worlds,

سليمانا أسميه ليبقى

سليمانا أسميه ليبقى

سليم الدين والدنيا سنينا

سليم الدين والدنيا سنينا

I name him Sulayman, so that he may remain

Name him Suleiman so he remains

Sound in faith and worldly life for years.

Safe in religion and life for years,

وخذها من صديق بارتجال

وخذها من صديق بارتجال

وغض الطرف عن عيب كمينا

وغض الطرف عن عيب كمينا

And accept it from a friend, composed on the spot,

And take her from a close friend spontaneously

And turn a blind eye to any hidden flaw.

And overlook the hidden shortcoming,

أسر إذا تبشرني بحمل

أسر إذا تبشرني بحمل

فسل مولاك والتزم العرينا

فسل مولاك والتزم العرينا

I shall rejoice when you bring me glad news of a pregnancy;

Rejoice if you give me news of pregnancy

So ask your Lord, and keep to the lion's den.

Ask your Lord and head to the lair.
