لاno زرعcrops لاno زهرflowers ينيرilluminates فواديmy heart

No pleasant shade, no water—such was it when it arose.
No shade is sweet, no water as it grew
No crops, no flowers to illuminate my heart.
No crops, no flowers light up the valleys
فيهin it الدبورthe west wind معwith الجنوبthe south wind تلاقياthe two met
فيه الدبور مع الجنوب تلاقيا
والبومand the owls فيهin it علىat العواthe howling متماديpersisting
والبوم فيه على العوا متمادي
There the west wind and the south wind met,
In it hyenas meet with the south wind
And there the owls keep on howling.
And owls in it to calamity cling
