قم يا محمد يا ختام المرسلين

قم يا محمد يا ختام المرسلين

وانظر بعينك كيف حال المؤمنين

وانظر بعينك كيف حال المؤمنين

Rise, O Muhammad, O last of the messengers.

Arise, O Muhammad, seal of the prophets,

And see with your own eyes how the believers fare.

And look with your eyes at the state of the believers.

تجد الأمور تحولت عن حالها

تجد الأمور تحولت عن حالها

والدين في عهد السياسة قد أهين

والدين في عهد السياسة قد أهين

You will find that affairs have changed from their former state.

You will find matters have changed from their state,

And religion, in the age of politics, has indeed been dishonored.

And religion in the age of politics has been disgraced.

حل الحرام بلا نصوص تقتفى

حل الحرام بلا نصوص تقتفى

واستهزأ العاصي بحال المتقين

واستهزأ العاصي بحال المتقين

What was forbidden became lawful, with no scriptural texts heeded.

The unlawful has become permitted without textual proofs,

And the sinner mocked the state of the God-fearing.

And the disobedient mock the state of the pious.

واستفحل الجهال واشتد البلا

واستفحل الجهال واشتد البلا

واستصغر العلماء حزب الأمين

واستصغر العلماء حزب الأمين

And the ignorant grew powerful, and calamity intensified.

Ignorance has spread and tribulation has intensified,

And the scholars, the Trustworthy One's followers, were belittled.

While the scholars are belittled, party of the Trustworthy.

الخمر في سوق التجارة رائج

الخمر في سوق التجارة رائج

أما الخنا فغدا شعار العالمين

أما الخنا فغدا شعار العالمين

Wine sells briskly in the marketplace.

Wine is thriving in the market of trade,

As for lewdness, it has become the emblem of humankind.

While singing girls have become the motif of all people.

عيب امرؤ قال الصلاة فريضة

عيب امرؤ قال الصلاة فريضة

والصوم ضاع وحرم الحج الثمين

والصوم ضاع وحرم الحج الثمين

A man was censured for saying, 'Prayer is an obligation.'

Shame on the man who says prayer is obligatory,

And fasting has been lost, and the precious pilgrimage forbidden.

Yet fasting is lost and the precious Hajj is forbidden.

هذا الزنا أبوابه مفتوحة

هذا الزنا أبوابه مفتوحة

اما الربا فتجارة المستسعدين

اما الربا فتجارة المستسعدين

This fornication—its doors are open.

This adultery - its doors are open,

As for usury, it is the trade of those seeking good fortune.

While usury is the trade of the prosperous.

آه بمولدك الشريف تنوعت

آه بمولدك الشريف تنوعت

طرق المعاصي في بلاد المسلمين

طرق المعاصي في بلاد المسلمين

Ah, on your noble birthday, manifold have become

Alas! With your noble birth, the ways of disobedience

the paths of sin in the lands of the Muslims.

Have varied in the lands of the Muslims.

لا نهي بل لا أمر بل لا منتهى

لا نهي بل لا أمر بل لا منتهى

حار الدليل وغار حزم المرشدين

حار الدليل وغار حزم المرشدين

No prohibition—nay, no command—nay, no limit.

Neither prohibition nor even command, nor limit -

The guide grew bewildered, and the guides' resolve ebbed away.

The proof has been confused and the resolve of the guides obscured.

من ذا لدينك يا محمد بعد ذا

من ذا لدينك يا محمد بعد ذا

والله أسدى أجره للمحسنين

والله أسدى أجره للمحسنين

Who will stand for your religion, O Muhammad, after this—

After this, who remains for your religion, O Muhammad?

and God has bestowed His reward upon those who do good—

And Allah has fully rewarded the virtuous.

غير الخليفة في الورى سلطاننا

غير الخليفة في الورى سلطاننا

من آل عثمان أمير المؤمنين

من آل عثمان أمير المؤمنين

other than the caliph among humankind, our sultan,

None but the Caliph in the world is our sultan,

of the House of Osman, Commander of the Faithful?

From the family of Osman, Leader of the Faithful.

فليبذل الجهد العظيم مؤدياً

فليبذل الجهد العظيم مؤدياً

حقاً لينصر في دفاع المجرمين

حقاً لينصر في دفاع المجرمين

So let him exert great effort, fulfilling

So let him make supreme effort, fulfilling

a duty, so that he may be granted victory in repelling the criminals.

The right, to champion the defense of the sinners.
