قدمت وقد سست البوادي والجبل

فأوسعتها عدلا وبلغتها الأمل

You arrived, having governed the desert regions and the mountain.

So you lavished justice upon them and fulfilled their hope.

ولما استنارت من ضياء سناكم

جميع النواحي واستبقن إلى العمل

And when the light of your radiance illumined

all the regions, and they raced toward work,

تجلى هلال السعد من بدركم كما ال

صباح على أرجاء عاصمة الجذل

the crescent of good fortune shone forth from your full moon, like the

morning over the reaches of the capital of joy.

فحيت ونادت بالسرور وأعلنت

تقول لدى تشبيهها العود للمحل

So it offered greetings, called out with joy, and proclaimed,

saying, as it drew an analogy for the return to its station:

كذا البدر في ترحاله كل دورة

يشرف في اجلاله برجه الحمل

“So too the full moon, in its travels, with every circuit,

ennobles, in its exaltation, its sign, Aries.”

فدم حافظا واسعدو فاخر برفعة

وتضعيف اجر في رضا مفحم الدول

So remain a guardian, rejoice, and take pride in high rank

and doubled reward in the favor of him who silences the states—

خليفة خير الحلق عبد الحميد من

بسطوته زال العنا وانزوى الكسل

the caliph of the best of creation, Abd al-Hamid, through whose

might hardship vanished and sloth withdrew.

أطل عمره يا رب وانصر لواءه

وصل على المختار مع صحبه الاول

Prolong his life, O Lord, and grant victory to his banner.

And bless the Chosen One, together with his earliest companions.
