وَأَنّ صاحِبهُ منّي عَلى خَطرِ
Today I became certain that love brings ruin,
Today I realized that love is fickle
And that its bearer is in peril from me.
And that its companion is in peril because of me

مِنَ المَنيّةِ بَينَ الخَوفِ وَالحَذَرِ
How can one live who has come to the brink
How is life for one who finds himself on the verge
Of death, between fear and caution?
Of death, between fear and caution

Sometimes he blames his eyes for their sin,
He blames his eyes sometimes for their sin
And sometimes he lays the blame upon fate.
And sometimes attributes the sin to fate
