إِذا النَّفسُ لَم تَشره إِلى طَلبِ العُلا

إِذا النَّفسُ لَم تَشره إِلى طَلبِ العُلا

فَتلكَ مَعَ الأَمواتِ في الحَيوانِ

فَتلكَ مَعَ الأَمواتِ في الحَيوانِ

If the soul does not yearn to seek lofty heights,

When the soul aspires not to seek high aims,

then it is with the dead among the living.

Then it is, though living, as dead.
