Stop, O Saad, let us descend here
For the little tamarisks on the sand dune are our meeting place.
The trysting place of the meadow is our rendezvous

For my tears have run out at the bend.
For my tears are spent bending

We mourn the absent one and weep for the homeland

A beautiful face from beneath the veil.
From behind his face-veil a beautiful face

He said: “And who did you say the hunter was?”
