Rise, and take advantage of Time's heedlessness,

As long as you remain safe from it.

As long as youth's bough remains tender,

Beautiful women long for union with you.

You deflower a virgin, daughter of the vine,

Whom lingering in wine jars has made slender.

She laughs in her goblet for joy

When the eyes of the bottles weep.

She never dances in the cups but

The mixing dots her with pearls,

Until you see her as our fetter—

For hand and foot and tongue.
