O Karim al-Din, in whom hope is placed when no

one remains from whom generosity can be hoped for.

O generous one, who gives freely of what his two

palms possess, when miserly hands withhold.

You are too exalted in worth for me to exchange gifts with you,

and in station; yet I am a speculator.

I seek profit from your bounty; and are

profits sought from any but one like you?

May congratulations never pass your dwelling by, and may you never

cease to have joys follow one another in your house.
