Maymun has a face that offends the eyes
A face so sullen it offends the eyes
with its black, pitch-dark appearance.
With darkness ominous and fatal guise
وَحَمّامُهُand his bathhouse مُظلِمٌdark بارِدٌcold

And his bathhouse is dark and cold;
His bathhouse chill and shadowy within
the wayfarer loses his way in its corners.
Where lost the lonely wanderer has been
وَهَبand suppose أَنَّthat حَمّامَهُhis bathhouse جَنَّةٌa paradise

And suppose that his bathhouse is a paradise—
And if his bath's a heaven, can there be
is Malik not at its gate?
No angel guarding at the entry?
